Can you airbrush an EMG?

As in paint...

On a lot of graphic guitars, EMG's, pup rings, etc are shown airbrushed.

Are EMG's fair game for painting on a player's (not something that only looks nice in a case) guitar?

I'd think they'd need some pre-treatment, and I'd clear over it or something or hairspray, or whatever, to keep it from scratching up too much.

Any pickup can be painted, including those without covers. Absolutely no affect on the pickup's ability to perform as it always did. I should know, I've had several guitars airbrushed right on the EMG's, or Duncans, or whatever.

as the others said, it's fine to paint them and paint is thin so you shouldn't hear a change in sound.

All plastics need to be properly prepped before painting (that is if you want it to stay). There are many products on the market, but "Bulldog" adhesion promoter is the best and it's available in an aerosol.

I asked at emg and they said it was ok to paint. They actually TOLD me to paint them cause I asked if black white and ivory were the only 3 colors available and they said yes. Nothing in the future to change that either.I suggested green or red but they said just paint em.

just a quick Q .. i've seen the jackson fire serpent axes.. and they say they got duncan sh4's, but they're with EMG type covers.. where could i get those?

Any decent guuitaer shop can order black plastic covers [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
