The top one is a vintage style bridge the bottom one uses an American Standard type 2 point bridge.

I am told that if you wanted to put a Floyd Rose style trem onto the second body, you cannot, as the stud spacing is different. The Floyd studs sit further apart.

That is true, plus the route is pretty much the same as the vintage and it would need to be made longer.

If you are going to use the trem, the modern one will probably be better. If you are not going to use the trem, the vintage one will sound better IMO.

there are also the fender ones that have the locking clamps in them like a floyd, but no fine tuners. DO they fit the two post style?

Yes. If I ever get another Fender, I want one with the locking Fender/Floyd two-point trem. [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

The vintage ones sound the best and can be set up to stay in tune under most usage just as good as a non locking 2 point.
