are thin body guitars "brighter" toned?

Like the gibson SG, ibanez S series, esp viper?
i was told that the super slim body makes the guitar sound bright even though these use mahogany necks and bodies?

NO totally false. old BCRichs are slightly thicker than SG, not nerly as thick as most guitars. & the only ones i have that are bright are maple neck & body. also SGs arent even close to being bright sounding.

I agree, particularly about the SG. My SG always sounded a bit muddy.

My Melody Maker has a thin body but I think it sounds real thick and chunky.
