• Pickup problem, sounds like distortion

My bridge p/u sounds like distortion even on clean channels. It's not REAL bad, it mostly only does it when played hard, like full chords strummed slightly hard.
I have checked the wiring, and the switch. all solder joints seem fine.
It's only the bridge p/u, the neck p/u is fine.
SL2H with tone zone in bridge, Evo in neck.
It's not the amp, it does it on any amp I play through.
I tried to use the search funtion for this problem, but couldn't find anything.....
thanks in advance for any responses.Nandrew

isn't it normal with high output pickups ? (at least it's normal when they are close to the strings , and it's gennerally normal with i.e. emgs) - you gey your clean channel ovedriven if you won't turn your volume ( on your guitar ) down)

The Tone Zone is very powerful.

I would try moving it away from the strings a little.

Cool, I had considered this, but wasn't sure. I'll try that.

it was the string height. I had raised the pickups a few weeks ago, after reading an article online that said what the "proper" height should be.
I lowered the tone zone a bit and it took the "distortion" characteristic out of the clean sound, without any loss of volume.
thanks

Well, that was a simple solution. And those are the best kind!

You should notice a boost in sustain too
