  • Mighty Mite Motherbuckers - Has anyone tried them?

They are nice high output, and inexpensive. I'm seriously wondering if they're worth trying.

    Opinions?

I've been wondering about those myself. I saw a set of zebra humbuckers on ebay with a BIN of $54.99, plus $5.00 for shipping. Not bad at all! If you get some, let me know how they are. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...15797&rd=1

His prices are ridiculous for some of his other items ($10 for a pot!?!). He's probably too high for the Mighty Mite stuff too. If you wanna take a chance on the MM pups, you might think of searching for other MM dealers first.

            Too late!!

Actually, I've bought a bunch o' stuff off this seller before, and most of the prices are very reasonable. Plus, they are very pleasant to deal with.

Check out Kent Armstrong motherbuckers. Higher output (at least impedance) .... haven't had the chance to try one out tho.

Seriously? The Mighty Mite is 21k. What is the rating of the Kent Armstrong?

I've seen a few Kent Armstrong pickups for sale, and they seem to be really expensive.

I have a blue Cort Katana that has these pickups stock. In the website, Cort says "for all fans of hardcore, industrial music, and beyond, in search of creative aggressive screaming tone..."
                  Cort webpage

I'm trying to remember what it sounds like....I remember I liked the pickups a lot...and most of my guitars have Duncan JBs/Customs/Trembuckers and EMG actives and HZs. I'll have to dig the guitar out and try it tonight and let you know.

Well, just to give you a point of reference, I'm a huge fan of the Duncan Custom.

Re: Mighty Mite Motherbuckers - Has anyone tried t

zeegler, I pulled out the Cort Kantana....man, I forgot how good the Motherbucker pickups sound! Tons of output and punch without being muddy. Good response across the range (example hitting open D rock distortion chord: A string open, D string open, G string 2nd fret, B string 3rd fret...each string comes thru with pretty close to equal volume, sounding very full).

The Duncan website describes the Custom as "A high output pickup with superior clarity and punch"...I'd say that describes the Motherbucker also!

Also, I prefer a single coil in the neck, and the neck version with coil tap sounds very good also, sounds full like a single.

Sound/Tone also comes from body/woods/etc, but I'd say the pickup is contributing a lot to the good sound of the guitar. I'm going to start looking for some of these to swap into some of my other guitars!

Due to your question, the Katana will be one of the guitars I gig with this weekend! so thanks!
