Jackson Dinky "Dragon"

I've seen a few of these change hands around here and was wondering what the story is on them.
How many were made?
What are they worth?
Does anyone have one for sale or trade?

The one I'm referring to is the Chinese dragon with the intense colors.

Any sellers? Any info?

I'll pass on this topic, but I will say that there's a DK and a Fusion around that have mis-matched necks, I believe the one you're referring to has a DK neck on a Fusion body... The maple/ebony sharks belongs on the "not so colorful" body.

While I'm privy to the history of the ones owned in this Forum, I'll leave it to the others as I am not going to say anything! I will tell you though that the Chinese Dragon graphic with the intense colors was only available on Dinky and not Fusion models (barring true custom shops, but I have never seen one). This was a standard USA Production graphic offered from 1994 through at least 1996. Most of these bodies were joined to 24 fret bolt on necks with ebony boards and sharkfin mother of pearl inlays. However, some do exist with 24 fret bolt on necks in all maple with ebony sharkfin inlays and matching maple headstocks with black Jackson logoes. On a side, Pat, you wouldn't have good results with a Dinky body mated to a Fusion neck as the scale length wouldn't match up at all.

So, Can I assume any Dinkys with this graphic PRIOR to '93 would be custom order then?

You would know by the serial number. If it's a bolt on six digit it's USA Production, if it's a bolt on four digit it's Custom Shop.

And I've got the neck and body that match his [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I thought that the swapped necks had gone to two different bodies (i.e. Fusion neck to a Dinky, etc) based on the fact that both guitars were kinda hard to intonate, but after taking a few measurements, I came to the conclusion that both were actually Dinkys, they just needed to be setup.
I thought one was a Fusion because it has the Fusion-style EZ-access scallop on the lower horn like Fusions do.

Anyways, I had thought about selling mine and having the Soloist done in that graphic by GMW, but the body's in rough shape, the headstock is looking bad cosmetically (clearcoat coming off, the fishpaper/black overlay is showing and fading) and I doubt I could break even for it.

Out of curiosity, the graphic on mine is dated 94. Is yours dated?

not that i can tell, even the trem cavity is painted white...where is yours dated at????d.m.
