Is the other guitar a Carvin DC135? If so, it is nice, even with the Kahler!! Jack.

hehe, yes it is. i think both the jack and the carvin may end up with emg's. have not decided yet.

                    Re: My Newest Axe

Hey I remember this guitar on Ebay. Its a Dave Mustaine sig. The guy had the kahler trem taken off. So how does the mod look and how does it sound?

                      Re: My Newest Axe

yes it's that one. it was done really well, you need to catch the light just right to tell it had work done to it.
i floored at the quality of the work on the neck and frets. the inlays look awesome and they're done so well you can juuuuust barely feel a ridge where the sharktooth is. the binding and fret job is awesome, smooth and very well finished. i'm liking the frets too, skinny and high.
The sound is real nice too, clear with lots of sustain. I would say it almost sings.
so far my only complaint is that it doesn't chunk up enough for my liking, hence the comment about the emg's earlier.
i pulled the pickup out and it's got a sticker on it. it was either J-50 or JB-50 does that mean anything to anyone?

                        Re: My Newest Axe

Yes, the J-50 was Jackson's version of the classic Gibson '59 PAF. It's a low output humbucker with alnico magnets, if there would have been the letter "C" after it then Jackson would have wound it with ceramic magnets. When combined with the JE-1200 mid boost system that pickup can really chunk. But when fully passive it's got a lot to be desired. That's weird that it would have a Jackson J-50 being that it's a DM model from around '98 or so. They were coming with Duncans for sure...

                        Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

what would you guys suggest for replacements? i was leaning toward emg's 81/81 or 81/85, lawrence 500XL's or X2N/and something.
