  • once again: Jackson Soloist/Strat ? Is this one authentic ?

I already posted this on the old forum but it seems that there aren´t many visitors anymore.

    hello,

just saw a Jackson Soloist USA on ebay. It says it´s from 1987 with serial no. 1510. It has a H-S-S configuration and a bolt-on-neck. It would be nice if you could take a look at the pictures I put online:

    HERE

Any comments or additional information on that model ? Is it an authentic USA Soloist ?

    thank you
    Dennis

soloists are neckthru guitars. This one is a genuine bolt on Jackson. Judging from the control route it appears to be one made in the Ontario factory and with that serial # must have been one of the first ones made there.

it has the strat body which makes it not a dinky
also looking at the routes it looks like it was
a s-s-s and some one messed it up with a crapy hum route

The owner told me that it is an original H-S-S but he ripped out the humbucker.

That humbucking route is not original. You can in fact see the remnants of a slanted single coil route inside it.

But yes, it's an authentic Jackson USA Strat (not dinky), Ontario made.

With that crappy route, it's worth no more than $400.

Yeah... Looks like it used to be a tight 3 configuration and that is somewhat rare. Too bad for the route job.

Thats a Dinky body not a Strat body. I cant really see the pickup rout clearly but it looks like it could be a single rout modded.
The finish is kinda cool though. ( if you like pink)

Looks like a Strat body to me too.

Definitely not a strat body. The volume knob is too far right from the bridge, and the 3 knobs are straight, not arched.

Notice the length of the horns and the contour of the horns on the guitar in question. Copmpare those along with the lower bout of the lightning sky Strat body to see the differnce. Also the waist is in a different spot do to the smaller bout of the DINKY compared to the Strat.

As to answer the question Its an early production Ontario Jackson Dinky. Slightly larger than the dinky as we know it today but not as rounded as the strat is. Also deeper cutaways for easier access of the upper frets. So yes its authentic as far as it goes as being a Jackson and the neck and body look right. As does the neck plate and seriel number. How ever it is not a Strat or a Soloist. Its a Dinky.

I have two strats and two dinky's from that same era ('86-'88).

That's a strat. My dinky's are much more "squared off" on the edges and have smaller horns.
