• Refretting questions.

Hey all.

I'm thinking of refretting my Soloist with Stainless Steele 6105's. The jumbos on there now are too thick for my fat fingers up high and they need to be refinished. I've heard somethings though that say it's more difficult to refret Ebony boards and that SS frets are more intrursive? I'm a complete newbie as far as frets go with the exception of sizes so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Then you don't need to be thinking about refretting it.

If the frets aren't beat, I would leave them be. Stainless will sound too bright. Unless you want that. They'll last for a long time though.

Ebony tends to get very brittle over time if not taken care of properly. There is a lot more work involved in refretting than you think. The proper tools are a must.
Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I suggest taking it to someone who has the proper tools and knowledge for the job. JMO....
