• Neck Warpage. Is there any hope?

    Hello!

Well, I have a friend with an Ibanez RG320DX, and to say it short: The neck is warped!

IT dips downward from about frets 6-17, the middle area. More so on the left side than the right.

Can this be fixed cost effectively? I think it would be a simple truss rod adjustment, but the neck is dipped more on the right than the left!

Is it worth/easy to fix? or should I just score a new neck off Ebay?

    Thank you!

I agree, get a new neck. The cost to repair that one will be more than its worth.

When you say "dips downward" do you mean as in towards the floor while in playing position. Or are you trying to say relief, as in bowing away from the strings under pressure? Also, by right and left are you refering to bass side vs treble side?

It is lower on the EAD strings than the GBE strings.

I guess a new neck is what we will do.

You could always shim the nut on the GBE side and then lower your bridge.

Nah, its just twisted. He will have to get a new neck, or guitar.
