  • Floyd Spring Question.

I have finally gotten round to getting rid of 9's on my KV2 and have put on a set of heavy bottom, light top type strings. .52 to .10.

However when tuning up it yanks the Floyd right out of the body at a big angle. So I have tried tightening the claw inside to pull the strings more but it has just stretched the strings and not changed the problem.

So whats the best plan of attack to level my floyd and tune up my strings? If I need to have some more springs in there (currently 3) what should I need......1 more? 2 More? If its 1 more what side is it best to put it on, top string side or bottom string side.

Or am I completely missing something and its not the springs after all?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Floyd Spring Question.

I usually use 10-46 or 11-48 (I think) strings and typically go with four springs. I block my Floyd with a small piece of acrylic right in the center, and there are two springs on either side. Here's a pic:
