  • Neck replacement question - Warmoth Neck on Kramer

I'm planning on installing a Warmoth neck on an early 80's Kramer Baretta body. I'm assuming that the holes on the neck heel won't match up with those on the Baretta pocket. This is my first time with a neck replacement. How do I handle this? Do the existing holes on the neck heel need to be filled before I drill the new ones? Any other general tips on neck replacement would be appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure the Warmoth neck fits in the neck pocket. I had a Pacer neck that was pretty darn skinny.

I would fill in the old holes. It's pretty easy to do with cheap wood dowls and wood glue.

I didn't think the Warmoth necks came with holes for that reason.

I thought they used to come without holes but now come pre-drilled. In any event, I'm sure they'll do it however you want.

FWIW, I bought a Warmoth neck used, from ebay and installed it onto a Kramer Focus 1000 (Japanese version of the Baretta) body with no problems. It fit the pocket very well, and the holes lined up perfectly.
