It's Wednesday

David Lee Roth
Alice Cooper
Ozzy
Angus Young (he does more to get the crowd into it than Brian does )

Of course that's "frontman" as opposed to just "singer" - that's a different category IMO

omg it sure is!!! sorry, i've got a busy day at work tomorrow, so i've got thursday on the brain.

and yeah, frontmen and vocal ability aren't necessarily the same... although i love the voices of those in my list.

so ace, what's your list or favorites?

Although I'm not like a particularly huge fan, Ronnie James Dio was certainly was of the more captivating frontmen I've seen live. Bear in mind I've most that have been mentioned so far.

He just seemed to have it going on...

My list of favorite frontmen would be, ummm...

George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher - Cannibal Corpse
Lou Reed - Velvet Underground
Jim Morrison
Dio
Fred Durst(just kidding)
Dave Wyndorf(?) - Monster Magnet

I guess the bands I really like don't have frontmen in the traditional sense. The bands I really like seem to let the music do the talking, like Rush, Pink Floyd, most death metal/doom, The Who. They don't really have dominant personalities, but a group of people that make a whole. What would The Who be without both Roger Daltry AND Pete Townsend? Or Led Zepplin without Robert Plant AND Jimmy Page(no disrespect to John Paul Jones, John Bonham, John Entwhistle and OF COURSE Keith Moon, the single greatest rock drummer of all time). I like it when a band gels together. What is Ozzy without Randy/Tony/Zakk/Jake/John? A delirious has-been used for comedic relief.
