• I need help identifying Charvette

Just got a used Charvel Charvette. Does anyone have some more info on it? It is bolt-on Ft. Worth plate Floyd Rose licensed tremelo. One charvel humbucker and one charvel single coil. Serial number 9050093.

Was it made in 1990 in Ft. Worth?
What is a Charvette? Was that just another model, or was it a bottom of the line guitar or what?
What is the scoop on these old pickups?
Is it a mahogony body?

Thanks!

It is definatley not USA made, it doesn't say Made in Ft. Worth, just says Ft. Worth. It's an import.

Pretty much the bottom of the line, plywood.

It has very good action, a really fast neck, is double-locking. but the serial #s don't match up with the import serials that I have seen

I'm afraid your Charvette isn't worth very much.
They were bottom of the line when they were first released, even more so now.

Maybe you could get $50.00.. maybe..

If you enjoy playing it, great.. enjoy it, just don't treat it as an investment.

There were two styles that used locking tremolo's. The single locking deatures the same tremolo that period BC Rich Platnum series guitars have and the other style is a true double locking tremolo (but is not as high quality as a real Floyd). The lower end single lockers usually bring me around $75-100 in really good shape and the nicer double locking ones usually bring in around $25 more. These are retail prices, and it could sit around for a long time before I get that money for it. Here are the original 1990-1991 catalog scans.

I think these were made by the same company that made some of the Kramer stuff. The Charvette electric acoustic is nearly identical to the Kramer Ferrington in the Tele shape. The bodies on the 270 Charvette is cut almost identically to some NOS Kramer Pacer bodies I had, only the Pacers were not plywood. Like said above, these are about as bottom of the barrel you can get. If you like it, play the crap out of it and don't be afraid to smash it when it can no longer serve its purpose.

I.D. = Garbage! Just kidding if you like it why care about its value? If it plays nice why sell it? All of my friends have never even heard of Charvel guitars, and so when I thold them I bought one they were like, "Why'd you buy that crap? You could have gotten a Str*t for that price!!". Then of course I let them play it and they went home all depressed because it kicked the str*ts ass. Enjoy that guitar and don't worry about the value
