How many of you guys have actually played one? I haven't, so I can't comment. Sure my first instinct is to say it's a piece of ****, but you never know. Don't go shooting your mouth off unless you know what you're talking about.

We arent 12, so we can tell by looking at a guitar by now whether it will be a POS. Looking at this guitar, its a giant POS.......The old addage "You get what you pay for" is very true among guitars.............

                        Re: whoa! turser neck through?

I say BS!!! I have owned close to 40 guitars, played for 16 years, and some of the best guitars I have owned were pawn shop specials. Just because a guitar says "Jackson" on the headstock doesn't mean it's gold! Tell me how you can tell (other than the headstock logo) how that guitar is a POS. I'm really interested.

                            Re: whoa! turser neck through?

                            1. Picture #3 shows heavy gloss = no tone. And probobly the only thing giving it structural integridy.

                            2. Its made in China, by some 8 year old who doesnt know what a guitar is, how to play a guitar, and makes guitars for one shift then tables the next. How does he know the product is good? He simply looks to ensure that its clean, but cant tell whether its good or not.

                            3. It has a retail price of $599 which means it sells for a street price of $400. The store most like pays $250 for it, the distributor pays $200, so the manufactured direct costs were about $100 since there was most likely about $75 of overhead and indirect costs. So for $100 where are you going to get good woods and hardware?

                            4. Its a Jay Turser. It was never meant to be a good guitar, it was meant to be a guitar like thing, that some 8 year old could get to start off on.

                            5. Its made in China. A country we know that has a long standing guitar making tradition, and has no qualms about ripping off American consumers for thier dollar with unethical business practices......

                            6. Having owned about 300 guitars since 1982, and working in the R&D field, as well as touring the ops of a local guitarmanufacturer and reviewing thier build process and R&D from a business stand point, I know this is a complete POS......I could add more, but whats the point? I mean if you like Asian mystery wood, die cast hardware, and microphonic pickups, on a guitar that in 20 years will self destruct thats fine, buy it. For the $400 I'd rather by a real guitar and not a guitar like thing.......

The only one of your answers that falls under "you can tell by looking at it" is the first one. Funny, I have seen some pretty high end guitars with finish just as thick or thicker. As for it being mystery wood, it sure as hell looks like ash to me. Anyhow, I don't want to get into a ridiculous argument over it. I am merely saying that without playing a guitar, or at the very least holding it and seeing it close up, you shouldn't cut it up because it doesn't have a Jackson logo on it. For what it's worth, my Dinky was a complete POS and thankfully I had it replaced under warranty.(the bridge posts were pulling through the wood)
