• Very nice guitar for very little money

This is my Dean '79 series Z. If you like the Explorer shape.. this is the guitar. I got turned on to this guitar after visiting the Dean Forum, and I've got to say, wow.. it is classy to look at in person, it plays... fabulous.. truly, a work of art.. and an Import to boot.. much, much MUCH better than my 85 Gibson Explorer.. in every way.

That's real nice! I prefer the white to the almost compulsory sunburst.
What are the pickups like, and do they make a Vee in that series?

Yup, they have a V and an ML in the series.

As far as the pickups go.. I like em.. more vintage-like than metal.

They are pretty much duplicates of the original 1979 issue Deans. Elliot (the company Prez), spent alot of time getting the dimensions right.

It's a set neck design, but it flows so smooth, you can't even see where it joins the body.. if you have a Les Paul, V or Explorer, than you know what I'm talking about.

Even the guys with the USA Time Capsules are excited about this new series.

A set neck mahogany bodied guitar with full binding for less than $500.00... Gibson who?!?

Yeah, the '79 Series kicks serious butt for the price. I have the ML in white, and a white V on the way right now. I can't believe what you get for the money. These play just like my original 1981 Deans I had way back when. Amazing.

Yea, it's a love/hate thing for the headstock with alot of people I've found.

Me, I like it, but thats kinda obvious aint it.

This guitar is basically a response to the Dean fans for a redo to make it more "accurate".

This one is out of the first batch of 150 or so.

One of the things they cried for was this big ass headstock. The previous version (The Select Series) was smaller.

They call This one the "Series 2" headstock.

You should see what is called the "Series 1"... huuuuge!!!

The '79 ML in Cherry Sunburst will definatley be my next purchase.

                          It's looks great.

Yeah, I go with the "not liking the headstock" crowd. Never did. Sorta obtuse and
embarrassing looking to me for some reason...

                            Nice guitars nonetheless...
