  • Drill size for fine thread Jackson tremolo posts?

Hi all, I am replacing the chrome coarse thread tremolo post inserts that came with my WRXT warrior with a set of black Jackson fine-pitch posts - part number 0062589049

The splines on the new ones are finer than the old ones, and the overall diameter is marginally larger.

Is there a known drill size for these posts please, or a good rule of thumb such as drill the hole ?? smaller than the diameter of the splines?

I've tested a 3/8" in a piece of scrap wood and it seems a hair too small.

    thank you very much

You may have to go metric on that one.
    20mm should work.

I think you meant 10mm 3/8 inches is roughly 9,5mm. And yes you dont want the hole to be too loose. You want it to be tight fit.

Thanks guys - I was able to measure the new posts and they (including the splines) are about 10.05mm. does that change anything? Thank you

Correct... looks like I fat fingered the keyboard there.
