  • Ohm Setting?

Ok. I have a JCM 800 2x12 with 2 Celestions rated @ 16 ohms a piece. This 800 has an Ohm select switch for 4, 8, & 16. What should it be set at?

What would I set it to, to drive just a 4x12 rated at 8 Ohms? 8 Ohms?

Lastly, if I were to use all 6 speakers, what would I set it to? Thanks in advance for the help.

When you're driving just the speakers in the 2x12, you should set it at 8 ohms. (I'm assuming they're wired in parallel, which they should be. The '+' terminals of the speakers should be wired together and the '-' terminals should be wired together. You can check by inspection.)

When running into the 8 ohm cabinet by itself, set the impedance to 8 ohms.

When running both the internal speakers and the cab, set the impedance to 4 ohms.

Thanks! Here's another one: What should the 'mains' be set at, 120, 220, or 240 - and what does that mean? I'm assuming that's some sort of voltage output? Thanks Again.
