  • Controlling feedback

I'm using a Peavey 212 amp with a Yamaha DG Stomp preamp/effects unit. Plugged into the "Effects Return" or "Power Amp In" input in the back, there's little feedback at high volumes. Plugged directly into the guitar input and the amp screams with feedback.

For the most part, I've got it under control, but is there any way to control feedback at high volumes? It's a solid-state amp, so maybe that's what's wrong, but I'm thinking there's got to be a solution.

    1. Stand farther away from the amp when you play.

    2. Take the the volume on your guitar down somewhat (sorry!)

    3. Use an equalizer to limit the feedback frequencies.

    Any other ideas?

By plugging it into the guitar input jack you are slamming the front of the amp in a bug way. Maybe OK for a tube amp, but not in this case.
I believe that unit would work best using it as a preamp by running it into the power amp in jack, and just using the output section of the amp. As you"ve already found out.
