What could drive a bit more crunch out of my mesa ??

My mesa is on helluva amp i loveitbut i wondering if i changed my pickups to seymour jbs or dimebuckers or emgs i would get more crunch out of it. im mostly playing heavy metal death metal and punk

It depends on what you're using now - what pickups, what guitar, which Mesa (Single Recto, right?). As far as "crunch" goes, well, you may just have to spend a lot of time playing with the EQ setting until you find the "sweet spot" for the sound you're looking for.

One mistake that a lot of people make with the Rectos is in "diming out" the controls - if you've got anything cranked completely up, that's probably the beginning of your problems. Spend some time playing with the mid control, too...

A BBE can sometimes make you feel like you're getting more gain out of the amp due to a tighter low-end response.

well i cant afford a bogner or a vht or a soldano or rivera so my only option really is changing my tubes and new pickups. Im aiming for emgs in my kelly something that'll give me more crunch and clarity. im not working a 5,00 dollar a day job unlike some of you lucky bastards.
