Need help with my amp...

Hi guys,
The last few times I used my amp (Marshall JCM900 SLX) it started misbehaving... every time I shut it off, it gives me a short, "crack"-like sound. I didn't have the standby on, the tubes should've cooled down, the volume was turned down, the guitar was plugged out (at the amp, not the guitar jack)...
I can't remember a different procedure when turning it off, what did I do wrong?

I take it that I'm just stupid as ****. Might as well deal with it.

Put the amp in standby mode for 15 or so seconds and then power it off...
