  • Installing Tremolo on COW 7?

Hi, guys! Long story short, I need a 7 string for my band. Longer story short, I neeeed a trem. I'm so used to trems on guitars now, that whenever I play a TOM I just can't get used to it.

I have a good deal on a Jackson COW 7, and I'd like to pick it up. I'd get an EMG SA-7 installed in the neck, and a trem installed on it if I were to get it, ideally an Edge of some sort. I have a guy that can do it for cheap, and I want an excuse to own a Jackson, but I'm more worried about what would happen to the tone and maybe even play ability from doing this mod.

Can anyone give their experiences with replacing a TOM with a trem on a COW 7, or on any guitar in general? I would really appreciate it!

I am a firm believer of adding Floyd Roses to any and all guitars.
I used to have a COW-6 and it was a pretty cool guitar.
If you like the guitar and it won't cost ya too much, do it.

And get a real Floyd Rose, it'll look funky otherwise.

I'd assume that with the TOM bridge, there's more of a neck angle, so the Floyd would probably sit higher off the body. Shouldn't be much of a problem, though.
Also, since the COW has a bolt-on neck, you should be able to shim it to compensate for the neck angle if you need to.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
