Just got a 1988 USA Soloist that has the factory original S/S/H setup with 3 knobs and the 3 small pickup selector switches. My best guess is that this guitar originally had a Jackson active circuit setup and one of the knobs originally controlled the active boost. The active setup/board is now gone(probably died) and the original pickups are wired a bit weird. 1st knob is volume and the 2nd and 3rd knobs BOTH seem to control the "tone" on the humbucker.
My question: If someone ordered a 1988 USA Soloist with 3 knobs and 3 mini pickup selector switches WITHOUT the active setup, what exactly would the 2nd and 3rd knobs control ? I want to wire this one up like it came from the factory without the active setup. I'm guessing the bridge pickup is a J-50C since it's not that hot on the output. In fact, I may toss in a J-80 or J-90C while I'm at it.
