1 meg vs 500k?

The volume pot in my SL1 has been acting up to the point where
I think it needs to be replaced. The electronics are standard with a
JB in the bridge and quiet singles in the neck and bridge. Would I
be able to use a 1 meg pot in this setup, and if so, should I? Or do
I need a 500K because of the stacked singles? Who
has tried 1 meg pots, and do they make much difference?

Uh, that SHOULD read "quiet singles in the neck and middle" obviously!

1 meg will be brighter than 500k... kinda like running the volume wide open with no tone pot at all. I'd stick with 500k. If you want things a little warmer/darker, then go 250k.

A lot of folks run a 250K with the JB to tame the mid spike, and of course Fender has used 250s with singles for like ever. But yeah, a 1M wide open would be like having no volume control at all, until you turned it down, of course.
