What do you think about the Performer bodies?

I'd like to start a project, building a guitar with diferent parts; I've heard Performers were "good" guitars, and I've seen Performer bodies in good prices, but what about their quiality? wood quality or tone? And what Jackson necks fits them (professional, modern imports, etc) ?

My first Jackson was an MIJ RR Performer. I got rid of it once in some trading, regretted it almost immediately (not because it was a bad trade) and got it back in another trade. It's a solid player, better than many would give it credit for. Still in PERFECT condition, it has been put away to be kept that way. It has a permanent home, not just for sentimental reasons. I can't tell you what necks will fit since I've left mine as it was when it came out of the factory, but I personally would have no reservations about using one in a project.
