  • Pick up that bring out the lows for guitar

Now, can anyone tell the best pick up for low tones? I am planning to modify my mutt to get real low sounded bridge pick up with crispy and bright neck pup.

    Thanx!

Duncan Invader. As for a bright neck pickup, DiMarzio Super 2.

The Tone Zone would do the job. Very nice pickup.

That would be a good one, too. It's bright, but it is basically a single coil sound in humbucker housing.

Or maybe that I´ll snatch new Black Winter set from Duncan or EJ custom neck from Dimarzio. I really want to achieve low and muddy bridge sound.

That's arguably the first time I've ever heard someone expressing a desire to find a muddy tone. Normally, it's trying to eliminate it.

              Language differences, perhaps?

Are the Black Winters out yet? Are they based on a Distortion or a cross between a Distortion and Invader? I briefly read something about them being made for Ola Englund but wasn't sure if they had gone into production yet, or that they're only limited to the Norway, Finland, Sweden area?

As for low end, the Tone Zone is nice, and the Invader has even more, but I don't think they're really muddy... I guess they can be if you EQ them right (or wrong ).

If you want a muddy pickup just buy a cheap one.

Yes muddy and low. I have sg mutt with swamp thing themed so it needs that.

Yes, I did notice you were in Finland. Just saw a couple clips on youtube from Ola and Keith Merrow... they seem pretty clear and tight sounding with a bit of treble spike and not all that much low end to me.

I find the Invader in my RR3 to be BOOMY, not muddy.

I put a pair in my old Kelly XLR (poplar body) when I had it many years ago, and they definitely were boomy, not muddy.

Super Distortion works well for down tuned stuff. And you can find them used relatively cheap.
