  • Oil Finished Maple Questions

Hey guys, I apologize in advance because i've seen similar questions in the past, but I haven't found the exact answer i'm looking for. I thought it would be best to get a more specific response. I've got a charvel so cal (MIJ), which has a very fine oil finish. Coming from a rosewood background, I'm not exactly sure how to take care of the wood. First off, The owner's manual says to wipe down the back of the neck with a clean rag and polish after every use. My only question in that regard is if using Dunlop's 65 formula will harm the wood. It specifically says to not use on maple, but other posts I've read have said it will not harm the guitar. Secondly, as for the actual fingerboard, should I be fine if I just wipe it down with a damp clean rag when changing strings? Or would i be better off using 0000 steel wool or a specific cleaner? And finally following that, is it necessary to apply any oils after cleaning to condition the wood? Thanks a lot.
