  • Just bought an SL2H, but screws are a little rusty... can you help me?

    Hi all! Just bought a near mint SL2H for a good price! But the mounting ring screws, the pickup and the locking nut ones are a little rusty...

    I've never had to buy parts for a guitar, so i need a little help, as i don't know the lenght and diameter of each screw:

    Pickup ring screws (4x2 -> 8 screws):
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1109077016...84.m1438.l2649
    Size: 2.5mm diameter shaft x 15mm length (tip to base of head); Head diameter is 5mm.
    or
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3904352567...84.m1438.l2649
    Approx 5mm diameter head, 2.5mm thread and 18mm lenght

    Humbucker screws (2x2 -> 4 screws):
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1109006009...84.m1438.l2649
    Size: 3mm diameter shaft x 27mm length (tip to base of head); Head diameter is 5mm.

    Locking nut screws (3 screws):
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Locking-guitar-top-nut-42-or-43mm-chrome-black-or-gold-/370515278639?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&var=&hash=it em56446e7b2f
    or
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GUITAR-Flo...item35be8501b9

    These have the locking nut also, but i would just use the 3 screws. The SL2H is 43mm right?

    Does anyone knows if this would fit my future SL2H? If not, can you guys please help me find ones (on eBayco.uk, ebay.de or other European store where i can buy them)? Like i said, i don't know if these screws are universal or if the Jackson ones are specific in terms of length/etc. Yes, i know, i'm a newbie in terms of guitar parts

    Thanks!

    www.fretsonthenet.com is a good source of parts. I don't think he has issues with shipping international, but don't quote me.

      Why not soak the screws in WD40 or something similar and scrub with an old toothbrush?

        Don't buy those cheap locking nuts. They are very low quality compared to german made locking nut on SL2H. they usually are much shorter in height than german made parts and will not fit.

        Good place for floyd parts is http://www.rockinger.com/index.php

          Fretsonthenet buy from a respected member here first easier and probably cheaper too.

            I'd use steel wool on everything but the pickups and for those I'd use Marvel Mystery Oil. It works great for wiping rust away.
            I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.
