  • Replacing the JT6 with a Floyd

I am thinking about pulling of this swap, and I had a few questions:
    1. How easy of a swap is this? Will it mount to the existing posts?
    2. Will the Floyd work with the existing JT6/Kahler style nut?
    3. I believe that the Floyd has a 10" radius, so I am not sure how that affects things?
    4. Will the Gotoh Floyd fit?
    Thanks!

    1. It's easy. It will work with the existing posts, but the range may be limited slightly. A member here runs the fretsonthenet website and he sells posts that are a swap for the original JT6 posts and allow full Floyd travel (Part JCH-1).
    2. Yes
    3. It won't
    4. This one I cannot answer. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this one.

Every once in a while you'll see a JT6 trem cavity that requires slight modification to avoid contact with the OFR. 9/10 of them require no modification. There is not a radius difference, they are both 16" when the factory OFR saddle shim is removed (you'll want to do this). If the JT6 stringlock isn't slipping I wouldn't mess with it.
