SprayMax Urethane Aerosol Clear Coat over lacquer toner

Is it safe to use Spraymax 2K over a thin transparent lacquer color coat or is it better to stain the wood and apply Spraymax directly? I'm thinking of doing a trans finish on a guitar, but I normally stay with lacquer.

Any info as well as do's and don'ts would be helpful/

Is this the catalyzed stuff in a can? I haven't tried it.

Yup - this is catalyzed 2 part clear in a can...

i have not had issues with it on any surface or combo so i would be fairly certain your safe, i also have run it over lacquer and other surfaces. I believe there is a spot on their site with info on what it can be used on. I have like 10 cans of it lol

Ah, ok. Can you use spray guns at all? If so, you could mix your color in some intercoat clear, and use the urethane over it. If not, I've shot urethane over lacquer trans finishes with no issue.

Cool Colorado. Is one can enough for a strat body or is 2 better?

depends how thick you want it to look. i would use one can let it dry see what ya think and at the very worst you can wash it with a light palomolive and water and resand and clear some more.
