  • Pickup Dating...With Wire Color?

I thought all Jackson USA humbucker pickups from the 80's used a black jacket and had a red, white, green & black wire along with a bare ground. Today tho I bought a J-90C that had a grey jacketed wire with a red, brown, orange, & black wire along with a bare ground. What gives...I've never seen this or heard anyone mention it.

Sounds like the leads got short and somebody put on new lead wires. I've never heard of those colors used on j-90's before myself.

Nope. Took the black tape off the windings and checked the leads...wire is those colors from their starting point at the bobbins. Also the base is embossed with the Jackson logo, magnets are correct and pickup reads 15.68k. :dunno:

Not hard to install new leads on a pickup. I do it all the time.
