  • Another problem!!! not my week

Guys, i have yet another problem. i have a dk2 that i had a fernandes sustainer put in, well it bit the dust and i put the originals back in. same exact everything, so whats happening is in position 2 it sounds really thin and nasty clean. its a duncan design hb102 bridge, which is the jb knockoff i think. i have the black and bare grounded, red and white soldered together, and green is hot. this shouldnt be coil tapping should it? i solved the problem on my charvel, but it was just a ground. this thing has me baffled. ive checked all my wiring and its all good. damned sloppy but good. any advice?

Do you mean that it is weak and thin when a combination of pickups is used (not sure if that's what you meant by position 2)?

If it only sounds thin & tinny when 2 pickups are used, but sounds fine when either pickup is used separately, it seems like the pickups are out of phase. Swap the hot & ground (black & green) and you should be fine. Also, on the Seymour site it shows that green & bare should be grounded with black being hot, so that would also point towards out of phase.

Not sure if that is the problem you are having, but it sounds like it might be...

that was exactly it. thank you guys so much. here in the last week ive been going through all my guitars and doing maintenance. i have 30, so i developed a system of green/yellow/red tegs that signify what needs attention and how important it is or how it affects playing. green no problem, yellow minor, red cant play. i just happened to notice that 3 out of 6 Jacksons had yellow and one had the red, which was the burned out sustainer. i signed up here in 05, but my job barely allowed me time to even scratch my butt here the last few years. i left there and went elsewhere and ive never been happier. i got all the time i need now haha. so now i can pick up any guitar and play it. sooooo nice lol. thanks again guys

Glad that worked out for you.

Now that you've got some free time, how about some pictures of those 30 guitars ?

You need an account at a photo hosting site like photobucket (a lot of them are free). Once you sign up at one, you upload your pictures to that site. Then use the insert image button (looks like a picture of a tree) in the toolbar of the reply box to link to the photo at the photo hosting site.

Not sure if that makes sense or not.

'preciate it man. yea youd never know it by looking at her, but fuzzy has the sweetest temperament ive ever seen. she loves to crawl all over me and sit on top of my bald head and groom herself. every time i work on my gear she sits in her cage and moves as close to me as she can get. every night before bed i put her on the night stand so she can be close to me and jo. believe it or not my wife loves her more than i do
