  • Shielded RCA Cable: Adequate Substitute for Wiring a Guitar?

I know, it's a little ghetto. I need to rewire a guitar of mine, but I can't find shielded wire locally. I could order some, but I'm curious...shielded RCA cable. Cut off the connectors? Shielded wire. Would it work, or should I sit on my hands for a few days and order some real wire?

Sure. I don't see why not.

BTW I bought my shielded stuff from Radio Shack ages ago and still have a bunch left. The RS stuff is good quality - lots of copper shielding.

I've gotta hit RadioShack later for some other components, but when I stopped last week they said they didn't carry shielded single conductor wire (I even checked online, guy was right). They have the same thing, RCA cable, but I just went to Home Depot and got GE shielded RCA cable. Seems decent, guess the proof will be how it sounds wired up.
