  • Guitar grounding question

When I do my wiring on a guitar that has a trem claw, instead of soldering the stranded ground wire to the claw, I've been sticking it all the way down into the treble side claw screw hole before reattaching the claw. Two reasons really: 1 ) I'm lazy and 2) I trust a mechanical connection more than just a soldered one. Is this incorrect enough to be dangerous or otherwise stupidly wrong? Thanks to any who reply.

    1) it's not dangerous unless you take a power drill to the trem claw screw and drive it through your hand (recent Beavis and Butt Head)

    2) Not stupidly wrong, but wrong in the sense that a soldered connection is more solid than a mechanical connection. If you adjust the trem claw screw you might loose the connection/break the wire. Gibson's use a mechanical connection with the tailpiece stud bushing, but the bushing is pressed in and never moves after it is inserted.

    Your welcome.
