  • What size is the truss-rod socket?

    Hey guys,

I'm experiencing fret buzz on most of the strings in the lower frets (1-4).

I opened up the truss-rod cover when I did a fresh set-up for my guitar today, but none of my Allen wrenches seem to fit - the 4mm is too small, but the 5mm is too large.

What am I missing out here?

    b.t.w I have a DK2.

    Try the 4 again
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

Are you sire it's a allen key? Every Jackson I've owned just had a standard old nut on the end of the trussrod but I never had to set the trussrod on my DK2M either
      It's pronounced soops

sometimes its a close fit, you need to make sure the allen is aligned square to the hole, and its aligned so the hex pattern is oriented correctly.

I'll give it another go later today. One more question, just to be sure... If I tighten the truss rod nut (turn clockwise when looking down from the headstock to the body), will the neck arch downwards or upwards?

All trussrods and engines to my knowledge turn clockwise. Its a right hand thread, so if you turn it clockwise looking down the neck, toward the body, from the headstock it will start to backbow. Turning anticlockwise will bring relief.
