  • What are you guys using to clean off rust from parts?

I have some rid-ox, but wondered if there's something better to use to remove the rust, and maybe apply an additional coat of something else to preserve things like saddle bolts, locknut bolts, etc...

Was thinking of applying this once the bolts were clean:

IF you have access to Muriatic Acid, you can make a small batch it it will clean it up. It is hard to find these days as it is one of the big ingredients crystal meth from what I have read.

Great tip, and not as if everyone else hasn't paid the compliment already, but I'm consistently impressed with your work. Thanks!

Brass Suede shoe brush or a wire brush, paraffin, petrol or a degreasant and then soak in some Muriatic Acid (Builders Brick Cleaner products - Hydrocloric Acid). Phosphoric Acid (Stock Coca Cola or Rust Eater products down at the Auto Store, Eg POR-15 metal Ready products etc. but Coca Cola is always good).

Loads of muriatic acid over here man.....buy in by the 5 litres! You can buy barrels of 35 litres if you want. Used by builders and Landscapers to clean up limey or cement spall on brickwork..,....So what's this recipe all about then.
You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.
