  • P90 replacement from EMG

Has anyone tried the P81 / P85 from EMG in place of P90's. Thinking about trying this in my PRS.

Don't do that to a PRS. I beg you.
    I like EL34s.

That's funny, I knew someone would respond like that. I was looking at using Duncan minibuckers but it seem like a little more trouble than what I wanted to deal with. I was planning on keeping my original pups and pots to put back later. Just wanting to try humbuckers for a while instead of single coils.

I think the EMG-58 is the P90 equivelent pickup.

It's the equivelent but not a direct fit for replacement. Plus I don't think they make that pick up anymore.

Opps, I still see them for sell on the internet.

It was basically the equivalent, came before the 85, but the 58 is still a full-sized EMG, just a little noisy like a P90.

Thinking about going a different route, mini buckers. Duncan custom SM-2. Has anyone tried these. Duncan site says they work great with mahogany guitars.
