  • What grade of sandpaper do I need?

Need some help. I put some Tru oil on the back of one of my maple necks and ran into a problem. The directions stated to let it sit for atleast 2 hours and then use some 00 steel wool over it once it is dry. Never using it before, I waited 2 1/2 hours and then ran some 000 steel wool over it lightly. Well, the Tru oil apparently wasn't dry enough because the steel wool grounded into the oil a bit. I let it dry over night and went at it again once I knew it was dry. Everything looks/feels good but there is a spot where the steel wool is ground in a bit. Nothing major but I can't seem to get it out with the steel wool. I'm assuming I need something more course like sandpaper. I don't want to do any damage to my neck so can someone please suggest what grade of sandpaper(s) I should try first? Thanks!

If it's just a minor surface imperfection then 600 grit would be good.
