  • Lefty Floyd Rose parts question

Hi all, my first post and I am looking for some information please. I will be receiving my first Jackson shortly, a used USA lefty SL2H Soloist, and the Floyd Rose string clamps and string clamp screws at the nut are missing. Are the part numbers the same for left handed and right handed versions ? I have found an online source, stewmac

    http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,...and_parts.html

Will those parts be correct for an Original Floyd Rose, and are they of decent quality ?

Also another small part, the selector switch tip is missing, will any generic replacement fit or can someone point me to a decent one please ?

    Thank you.

    Paul

As a fellow lefty, congrats on that trans green! You don't see that finish very often.

I think the stewmac parts will be fine. I can't think of anything that would be lefty specific about the locking nut.

I'm pretty sure that the locknut pads will be the same. If they are good enough for Schaller than I think they should be of good quality. If you really must have OEM OFR locknut pads you can find them here.

As far as the switch tip will go I'm not too sure. I know someone here will be able to tell you.

Thanks for the responses guys, and the link

looks like there is such a thing as a lefty Floyd Rose locking nut. I think I will order the complete unit.

Just one question though which size is the correct one for the USA SL2H, from this chart ?

Whatevers already on it. I'm assuming R3L since the default nut width for the Soloist is 1 11/16", which means the R3 nut. If the nut is lefty, it should be R3L, but I haven't looked into lefty parts to know exactly.

And you don't need the whole nut. The Schaller pads from Stewmac will work just fine, and are not designated left or right. The nut is designated as such because of the taper from Low E to High E, as well as nut slot width (bigger strings on top).

As Newc said, you seem to just need the clamp plates, not the whole Floyd nut. (the complete unit will include the the nut that gets screwed into the slot on the neck as well as the clamp plates. You just need the clamp plates.) Since you only need the clamp plates and the string clamp screws you should be set just buying those parts from StewMac as they are not left/right specific.

Also, congrats on the soloist man, transparent green looks killer.
