  • What are the wires for underneath the pickups?

    Hi All,

There is a black wire screwed to the body under each of my pickups...

I have a Dinky in HSS configuration...

Does anyone know what these ae for and if you need them?

Ground wires for the cavity shield paint. You don't "need" them but you probably want them, they help cut down on noise a little.

I guess that black paint is conductive?

There ground wires, if you look there soldered to the top of one of your control pots. As for why they are there, I'd guess noise cancelling or something like that, I don't know really. I'm sure someone will be along with a more definative answer.
