  • Who sells a direct replacement for PC1 battery compartments?

I have traced a few of my PC1 gremlins to the battery compartment.

Does Stew Mac sell a direct replacement for those as found on the older PC1's and has anyone tried them?

I have one but have not installed it for the simple reason I figured it would take to much mass from the body. But I believe its made by Gotoh.

Yep. The battery boxes are made by Gotoh.

          Allparts has them.

The solder job on every one I've ever seen simply sucks.
You may be able to simply repair the existing box.
Mine had a cold solder joint that finally gave after the 4th or 5th time I replaced the batteries.

I highly recommend you re-solder every connection point before re-installing it. Save yourself $30 for the replacement.

            Thanks rjohnstone.

On two of my older PC1's someone else has already experienced the "top quality" Jackson solder and retouched them. Pretty badly as some of the surrounding plastic is fried.

As well one of the boxes just does not snap shut so it’s time for some fresh box and strong soldering.

My '97 Chlorine has had multiple pup swaps by a previous owner as well as a volume pot replacement. Not to mention that the intensity knob shaft is bent to hell. All looks like it was solder back by either Helen Keller or Ray Charles!

I have all the replacement parts and now just need to find some quiet time so that I can tear that crap out and start with fresh components and MY soldering skills and not Jacksons! LOL!

            Thanks for the heads up!
