  • Black Touchup Paint for OFR?

So, I got my new Floyd Rose today and it's beautiful...but there's a small, thin, shallow scratch near the Floyd Rose logo. So, I'm thinking a quick trip to the local car parts store to get some gloss black and I can fix it easy. Any one suggest against this/have a brand of paint they've used that matches up exactly?

    Thanks!

No, but I'm curious. Have plenty of black trems in need of touch up.

Might try black nail polish, it always drys glossy and fast and you could probly paint a thin enough coat with it that it wont stand out and since its an enamel base it will be more durable than car paint of the same thickness of paint.

A well applied Sharpie marker will get you great results.

id recommend an enamel based paint, apply with a small brush and then wipe over with a cloth so that the paint is only left in the scratch, might take a couple of goes, but youll get there

I've not had good luck trying this.

These work great for any black hardware touch-up.

I could have sworn when I had my black Floyd , it was a flat black finish and not glossy. Did they change this since 87

I broke down both a JT-6 and a Kahler 2710, cleaned each part thoroughly and then went over each part multiple times with a Sharpie. Both trems look factory fresh now. Came out really well. Only thing with a Sharpie, if you're going to go that route, you might be better off doing the entire thing rather than using it for spot touchups.

When I was active duty, I do remember one product that was awesome to touch up all of the small buttons on WEB belts, ALICE clips and such that had to be just right for inspections. I think it was this product here:

I bet that it would work perfectly for a small scratch on your Floyd.

I have heard you can used gun bluing to restore the black to the trem. Its what is used to restore the black/dark blue on gun metals. You can get it at any place that sells guns.
