  • New Standard tuning

I've been experimenting with an alternate tuning called New Standard. It's CGDAEG. Anyone ever use this? Know any songs that were written with this tuning? The more and more i use it, the more I like how it sounds.

I can't imaging trying to re-learn the intervals with the crazy tuning on that one. The 7 semitones from a to e would cause math damage to my brain. I'll stick to 4ths and 5ths thank you.

so what's your tuning like hellbat? sounds interessting as well...

@the rossness: this is not gonna help, but your tuning sounds like a weird six string viola.
you know any classical musicians? I'm sure they could show you a trick or two.

Nope...I thought I had one for ya, but it was C#-G#-C#-F#-B-C#

Where did you find "new standard?" You said you're kind of liking it...without retuning one of my guitars, how do chords/scales play on it?

          It's a Robert Fripp thing.

It def. sounds interesting but I have never tried it out.
          I like EL34s.

It's like I'm re-learning how to play. Some chords work, at least their shapes work, scales are a bit harder to figure out, but i'm working on it.

I made a quick video of one lick i was jamming on-

at least it should improve your sliding skills pretty quickly.
