Kramer Focus 6000/Floyd?

I bought a Focus 6000 for $ 20 yesterday, it has been poorly refinished, and is missing some parts, the trem being the biggest problem..
I'm not sure if I'm ready to spend the cash on a new OFR for this project, so I thought I'd ask you guys if you're familiar with a trem other than Schallers/Gotoh's that might do the trick? Has anybody bought the cheapos on ebay with any luck?

They aren't too bad. Alder body and a fast neck.
I bought one for dirt cheap about a year ago. Needed a refret.
I put some big fat jumbo frets in it and Changed the pups, pot & jack.
Got about $220 in it total.
Killer player now.

No, I'm not THAT wacky, I was hoping that this might come around to being a playable guitar with a little effort..The Focus'es can't be that bad? I mean, some folks play Hondo's!

Do the posts for the Floyds on these bend? Made out of cheap material?

I bought it from a 12-year old, and he wasn't sure if he had any of the missing parts lying around..The electronics are all there, it's missing the trem and a couple of string locks..Hopefully this will be an ok playing guitar eventually..

Oh, I've seen my fair share of bend posts. Seriously, it has nothing to do with Kramers, but the Wood screw posts do bend (not all of them, and not quickly).

FWIW - I had a Focus 2000 for years. Never liked the neck much though.

The neck on this thing is actually feeling very comfortable, but I can't really get into the shape of the headstock..It's too droopy IMO..

Has anybody tried the Mighty Mite licensed floyd rose? Any opinions on this?

$20 is a hell of a deal.

Post some pics. Congrats on this purchase! This guitar will eventually become a collectors item. The 80's, MIJ Focus series are excellent and some of my favorite guitars. Regarding the trem you could try a used Gotoh or other LFR.

The main drawback with LFR's is the use of a cast, potmetal block instead of the CA360 brass blocks found on OFR's. If the screw (to baseplate) spacing is 17 mm on center you can swap a brass OFR block on to your LFR. If the wood screw studs have deformed the wood you could upgrade to brass ferrules and machine screw pivot posts. Good luck and post an update here.

Cool Kramer... I have 2 myself.. Your best bet is to head to the kramer forum and ask a few questions there. There a great bunch guy's who know a lot about Kramer's. I'm sure someone there has a few parts laying around.
