  • multiple grounds to the volume?

I installed a Dimazio Evo neck p/u and 250k vol pot, and it sounds fine, still a tiny bit of noise. If I just gently touch the tone, the noise goes away.

so my question is: a few of the grounds on the back of the volume pot were all soldered to a few different locations on the back of the pot.

I combined them and soldered them all to the back of the vol pot, so if I separated them, would it make any difference?

    No.

Check the grounding between the tone and the volume.

It won't make a difference if they're all soundly soldered. If one is a cold solder joint (pretty common on the back of pots) you can get noise due to a ground loop. Double check that they're all solid on the back while in there.

Finally, are you closing up the electronics cover? You will get some noise just from it being open in most cases.
