Is there a specific hieght the string tree/retainer or whatever it's called should be? I changed the hardware on my blue SD1 to chrome & I noticed after I set everything up to standard tuning it was really tight & more difficult to bend so I raised the retainer quit a bit & set it up and now it plays better than ever! It feels slinky & loose set to standard.

With the nut locked, it shouldn't matter at all with respect to tight or loose feel of the strings- do you have the nut unlocked?
The retainer should be just low enough to get the strings to come off the back of the Floyd nut pressing against the nut. That way, they won't go sharp when you lock down the strings. -
It seemed tight once the set up was done & the nut was locked & then I noticed the retainer seemed lower than before so I unlocked it, raised the retainer and adjusted the setup again & perfecto.Comment
