  • J-50B humbucker in neck position

    has anyone ever tried this?
If so, what were the results?

I'm looking for a clear, medium-high output humbucker for a neck position, and I've got a spare J50B in my parts box. Remembering that it's supposed to be designed to accentuate the higher frequencies, I thought it might make a clear sounding neck pup.
I'll try it later, I was just curious if anyone else had tried it already ....

ok, got off my lazy a$$ and did a search ... looks like it could work nicely for me

if anyone's got anything to add, it'll be welcomed!

( about the pup, not about my lazy a$$ ! )

The J50B was standard equipment in the neck position on the Charvel 750XL. It sounded pretty good by itself and also did a good job in the split coil positions mixed with the J80C in the bridge. I still preferred Duncans in the guitar, though.

I'll be pairing it with a J90C in the bridge
if I had $$, I'd go for DiMarzios, but I don't, and this J50B is lying around ...

        thanks
