  • Dimarzio V/V Heavy Blues 2

Looking for a bridge pickup for a Model 1A. I don't mind the neck & middle sounds and even the 2 & 4 positions, but the bridge by itself is like an icepick in my ear.

I had considered some kind of little bucker, like a Little '59 or a Tonezone, but I like jamming on blues and it would be nice to NOT go super-heavy on this guitar.

Has anyone tried the Heavy Blues 2? It seems pretty good from what I've seen online so far. Will it be a good match for the Jackson singles?

no love for this pickup? I figured a HippieTim or someone might have tried one.

Ah well, any other suggestions for a good bluesy bridge single coil that won't break the bank?

      SSL5?

Sorry, I'm single coil clueless. And I don't play blues.

I played a VV Heavy Blues in one of my strats years ago - when they first came out. I remember that I was expecting "Texas Tone" out of it and was disappointed. Its a good single coil sound - you might want some more meat for the bridge position.

I've got it in a couple of my Charvels - it's a great bluesy pickup. Pretty SRV-ish IMHO, when cranked appropriately. All of mine are neck position, though. Not sure I would like it as much in the bridge.
