Gibson Explorer; installing EMGs?

Hey guys
I'm in the beginning of the process of installing a set of 81/85's in my 1995 Explorer, but there doesn't seem to be enough room in the p/u-cavities. Has anybody else had this problem?

Do I have to open the cavities more, or remove some of the wood to make 'em fit?

You might need to put a sharper radius on the corners. The EMG is pretty "square" on the edges compared to a standard non-covered humbucking pickup.

I did not have this problem with my Explorer. I have had it on Charvels and Jacksons.
