Purpleheart

Has anyone owned or know of anyone that has owned a purpleheart neck?

I had a cool idea for using one on a project. I emailed Musikraft to get some info b/c I know they have made several in the past and that is most likely where I would get it from, but I never received a response to my questions.

I've read where purpleheart can be brittle when working with it b/c it is such a hard wood and that it is very prone to cracking when working with it.

But, does that translate into it being brittle once there is a finished product? The prone to cracking thing concerns me considering the tension on a neck.

Any info would be appreciated before I go spending a few hundred bones on a neck that isn't going to last.

i think that purpleheart can be known as a few different woods; padauk, sateen, purpleheart are all similar. This guitar has a sateen warmoth neck, ebony board, and ss frets. one of the nicest necks i've played. no finish necessary, as the wood is somewhat waxy from what i recall warmoth describing.
